ಕರ್ತನಾದ ದೇವರು ಆದಾಮನಿಗೆ ಗಾಢನಿದ್ರೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ನಿದ್ರೆಮಾಡಿದನು; ಆಗ ಆತನು ಅವನ ಪಕ್ಕೆಯ ಎಲುಬುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿದನು.
Kartanaada devaru aadaamanige gaadhanidre baramaadiddarinda avanu nidremaadidanu; aaga aatanu avana pakkeya elubugalalli ondannu takkondu adakke badalaagi maansavannu muchchidanu.

- 23ಆಗ ಆದಾಮನು--ಇವಳು ಈಗ ನನ್ನ ಎಲುಬುಗಳ ಎಲುಬೂ ನನ್ನ ಮಾಂಸದ ಮಾಂಸವೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಾಳೆ; ಇವಳು ನರನಿಂದ ತೆಗೆಯ ಲ್ಪಟ್ಟದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾರಿಯೆಂದು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವಳು ಅಂದನು.
