ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕುಡಿಯು ವದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನಂತರ ಆಕೆಯು--ನಿನ್ನ ಒಂಟೆಗಳಿಗೂ ಸಾಕಾಗುವಷ್ಟು ನೀರನ್ನು ತರುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಳು.

- 18ಅದಕ್ಕವಳು--ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನೇ, ಕುಡಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಕೊಡವನ್ನು ಕೈಮೇಲೆ ಇಳಿಸಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕುಡಿಯಲು ಕೊಟ್ಟಳು.
- 19ಅವನಿಗೆ ಕುಡಿಯು ವದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನಂತರ ಆಕೆಯು--ನಿನ್ನ ಒಂಟೆಗಳಿಗೂ ಸಾಕಾಗುವಷ್ಟು ನೀರನ್ನು ತರುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಳು.
- 20ಆಕೆಯು ತ್ವರೆಪಟ್ಟು ತನ್ನ ಕೊಡದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ನೀರನ್ನು ದೋಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಯ್ದು ತಿರಿಗಿ ತರುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾವಿಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಓಡಿ ಅವನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಒಂಟೆಗಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ನೀರನ್ನು ತಂದುಕೊಟ್ಟಳು.
- 21ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಯಾಣವನ್ನು ಸಫಲಮಾಡಿದನೋ ಇಲ್ಲವೋ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಆಕೆಯ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯ ಪಡುತ್ತಾ ಮೌನವಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
