ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಅಡಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರು ವಾಗ ಏಸಾವನು ದಣಿದು ಅಡವಿಯಿಂದ ಬಂದನು.

27ಆ ಹುಡುಗರು ಬೆಳೆದಾಗ ಏಸಾವನು ಬೇಟೆ ಯಾಡುವದರಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾಣನಾಗಿದ್ದು ಅಡವಿಯ ಮನುಷ್ಯ ನಾದನು; ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಗುಡಾರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸ ಮಾಡುವ ಸಾಧುಮನುಷ್ಯನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
28ಏಸಾವನು ಬೇಟೆಯಾಡಿ ತಂದ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ಇಸಾಕನು ತಿಂದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡಿದನು. ರೆಬೆಕ್ಕಳು ಯಾಕೋಬನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡಿದಳು.
29ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಅಡಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರು ವಾಗ ಏಸಾವನು ದಣಿದು ಅಡವಿಯಿಂದ ಬಂದನು.
30ಏಸಾವನು ಯಾಕೋಬನಿಗೆ--ಆ ಕೆಂಪಾದ ಪದಾರ್ಥವನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡು, ನಾನು ದಣಿದಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಅಂದನು. ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಎದೋಮ್‌ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಾಯಿತು.
31ಆಗ ಯಾಕೋಬನು--ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲತನವನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಮಾರು ಅಂದನು.
