ಏಸಾವನು ಒಂದು ಗುಂಪಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದು ಅದನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದರೆ ಉಳಿದ ಗುಂಪು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದೀತೆಂದು ಅಂದು ಕೊಂಡನು.

- 7ಆಗ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟು ಕುಂದಿ ಹೋಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಜನರನ್ನೂ ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ದನಗಳನ್ನೂ ಒಂಟೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಎರಡು ಗುಂಪುಗಳಾಗಿ ವಿಭಾಗಿಸಿದನು.
- 8ಏಸಾವನು ಒಂದು ಗುಂಪಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದು ಅದನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದರೆ ಉಳಿದ ಗುಂಪು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದೀತೆಂದು ಅಂದು ಕೊಂಡನು.
- 9ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇ ನಂದರೆ--ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನ ದೇವರೇ, ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಇಸಾಕನ ದೇವರೇ, ನಿನ್ನ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಬಂಧುಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೂ ತಿರಿಗಿ ಹೋಗು, ಆಗ ನಿನಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೇದನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವೆನು ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಕರ್ತನೇ,
- 10ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸನಿಗೆ ತೋರಿಸಿದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕರುಣೆಗಳಿಗೂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸತ್ಯಕ್ಕೂ ಅಯೋಗ್ಯನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನಾನು ಮೊದಲು ಈ ಯೊರ್ದನ್‌ ಹೊಳೆಯನ್ನು ದಾಟಿದಾಗ ನನಗೆ ಕೋಲು ಮಾತ್ರವೇ ಇತ್ತು; ಈಗ ಎರಡು ಗುಂಪುಗಳುಳ್ಳವನಾದೆನು.
