1. 26ಆಗ ಯೆಹೂದನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ--ಆಕೆಯು ನನಗಿಂತ ನೀತಿವಂತಳು, ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಶೇಲಹನಿಗೆ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡಲಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು. ಅವನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಅರಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ.
2. 27ಅವಳು ಹೆರುವ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಗೋ, ಅವಳಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಆಕೆಯ ಗರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು. ಆಕೆಯು ಹೆರುವಾಗ ಒಂದು (ಮಗುವು) ತನ್ನ ಕೈಚಾಚಿತು.
3. 28ಸೂಲ ಗಿತ್ತಿಯು ಆ ಕೈಗೆ ಕೆಂಪು ನೂಲನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿ--ಇವನು ಮೊದಲು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದನು ಅಂದಳು.
4. 29ಆ ಮಗುವು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಳೆದಾಗ ಇಗೋ, ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದನು. ಆಗ ಅವಳು--ನೀನು ಛೇದಿಸಿದ್ದೇನು? ಈ ದೋಷವು ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರಲಿ ಅಂದಳು.ಹೀಗೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಪೆರೆಚ್‌ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಾಯಿತು. ತರುವಾಯ ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಂಪು ನೂಲು ಇದ್ದ ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದನು. ಅವನಿಗೆ ಜೆರಹ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಾಯಿತು.
5. 30ಹೀಗೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಪೆರೆಚ್‌ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಾಯಿತು. ತರುವಾಯ ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಂಪು ನೂಲು ಇದ್ದ ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದನು. ಅವನಿಗೆ ಜೆರಹ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಾಯಿತು.
