12ಗೆದಲ್ಯನನ್ನು ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾ ನೆಂದು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅವರು ಓಡಿಸ ಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಿಂದ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಯೆಹೂದ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಗೆದಲ್ಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಮಿಚ್ಪಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ಬಹು ಅಧಿಕವಾಗಿ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನೂ ಹಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕೂಡಿಸಿದರು.
13ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಕಾರೇಹನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋಹಾನಾ ನನೂ ಸೀಮೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸೈನ್ಯಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳೂ ಗೆದಲ್ಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಮಿಚ್ಪಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು
14ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇ ನಂದರೆ--ಅಮ್ಮೋನ್ಯನ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಅರಸನಾದ ಬಾಲೀ ಸನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನೆತನ್ಯನ ಮಗ ನಾದ ಇಷ್ಮಾಯೇಲನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆಂದು ನಿನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದದೆಯೋ? ಆದರೆ ಅಹೀಕಾಮನ ಮಗನಾದ ಗೆದಲ್ಯನು ಅವರನ್ನು ನಂಬಲಿಲ್ಲ.
15ಆಗ ಕಾರೇಹನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋಹಾನಾನನು ಮಿಚ್ಪದಲ್ಲಿ ರಹಸ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಗೆದಲ್ಯನ ಸಂಗಡಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ-- ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೋಗಗೊಡಿಸು, ನಾನು ನೆತನ್ಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಇಷ್ಮಾಯೇಲನನ್ನು ಯಾರಿಗೂ ತಿಳಿಯದ ಹಾಗೆ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಅವನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕೂಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಚದರಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಯೆಹೂದದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿದವರು ನಾಶವಾಗು ತ್ತಾರಲ್ಲಾ, ಯಾಕೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಆಗಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ವಿಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ ದನು.ಆದರೆ ಅಹೀಕಾಮನ ಮಗನಾದ ಗೆದಲ್ಯನು ಕಾರೇಹನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋಹಾನಾನನಿಗೆ--ಈ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ, ನೀನು ಇಷ್ಮಾಯೇಲನ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಸುಳ್ಳಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತೀ ಅಂದನು.
