ಯೋಹಾನನು ಮೊದಲು ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸ್ಥಳವಾದ ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ಆಚೆಗೆ ತಿರಿಗಿಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿದನು.

- 40ಯೋಹಾನನು ಮೊದಲು ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸ್ಥಳವಾದ ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ಆಚೆಗೆ ತಿರಿಗಿಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿದನು.
- 41ಆಗ ಅನೇಕರು ಆತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು--ಯೋಹಾನನು ಅದ್ಭುತಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಆದರೆ ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಯೋಹಾನನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೆಲ್ಲವೂ ನಿಜವಾಗಿದೆ ಅಂದರು.ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕರು ಆತನ ಮೇಲೆ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಟ್ಟರು.
