ಆದದರಿಂದ ಪಿಲಾತನು ಆತನಿಗೆ--ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ನೀನು ಅರಸನೋ ಅನ್ನಲು ಯೇಸು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ--ನಾನು ಅರಸ ನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದು ನೀನೇ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೀ. ನಾನು ಸತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಕೊಡುವದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಹುಟ್ಟಿ ಅದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರವೇ ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದೆನು; ಸತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊ ಬ್ಬನು ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವರವನು

- 38ಪಿಲಾ ತನು ಆತನಿಗೆ--ಸತ್ಯ ಅಂದರೇನು? ಅಂದನು. ಅವನು ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ತಿರಿಗಿ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನಾನು ಆತನಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ಅಪರಾಧವನ್ನೂ ಕಾಣಲಿಲ್ಲ.
- 39ಆದರೆ ಪಸ್ಕ ದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಡುವ ಪದ್ಧತಿ ಉಂಟಷ್ಟೆ; ಆದಕಾರಣ ನಾನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಡುವದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟವೋ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿ ದನು.ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ತಿರಿಗಿ--ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯ ನನ್ನಲ್ಲ; ಆದರೆ ಬರಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಕೊಡು ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಈ ಬರಬ್ಬನು ಕಳ್ಳನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
