ಉದಯ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಎದ್ದು ಜನರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಮಾಡಿ ತಾನೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ಜನರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಡೆದು ಆಯಿಗೆ ಏರಿ ಹೋದರು.

- 9ಯೆಹೋ ಶುವನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದಾಗ ಅವರು ಹೋಗಿ ಹೊಂಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಬೇತೇಲಿಗೂ ಆಯಿಗೂ ನಡುವೆ ಆಯಿಗೆ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮದ ಕಡೆ ಇಳುಕೊಂಡರು. ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಜನರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳುಕೊಂಡನು.
- 10ಉದಯ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಎದ್ದು ಜನರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಮಾಡಿ ತಾನೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ಜನರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಡೆದು ಆಯಿಗೆ ಏರಿ ಹೋದರು.
- 11ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಯುದ್ಧಸ್ಥರೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಡೆದು ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಸವಿಾಪವಾಗಿ ಬಂದು ಸೇರಿ ಆಯಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರು. ಆದರೆ ಆಯಿಗೂ ಅವರಿಗೂ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ತಗ್ಗು ಇತ್ತು.
- 12ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಐದು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಆದುಕೊಂಡು ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇತೇಲಿಗೂ ಆಯಿಗೂ ನಡುವೆ ಹೊಂಚಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಇಟ್ಟನು.
