ಆಗ ಹೊಂಚಿಕೊಂಡಿ ದ್ದವರು ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಎದ್ದು ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಚಾಚುತ್ತಲೇ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ಅದನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ಬೆಂಕಿಯನ್ನು ಹಚ್ಚಿದರು.

17ಆಯಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಬೇತೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇ ಲಿನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಗದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಒಬ್ಬನೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ತೆರೆದಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿದರು.
18ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನಿಗೆ--ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಈಟಿಯನ್ನು ಆಯಿಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಚಾಚು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದನು. ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಈಟಿಯನ್ನು ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಚಾಚಿದನು.
19ಆಗ ಹೊಂಚಿಕೊಂಡಿ ದ್ದವರು ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಎದ್ದು ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಚಾಚುತ್ತಲೇ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ಅದನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ಬೆಂಕಿಯನ್ನು ಹಚ್ಚಿದರು.
20ಆಯಿಯ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರಿಗಿ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಇಗೋ, ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಹೊಗೆ ಹೊತ್ತಿ ಆಕಾಶಕ್ಕೆ ಏಳು ವದನ್ನು ಕಂಡರು; ಆಗ ಈ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾದರೂ ಆ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾದರೂ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಲು ಅವರಿಗೆ ತ್ರಾಣ ವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಹೋಯಿತು. ಆಗ ಅರಣ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿ ಹೋದ ಜನರು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿದವರ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿದರು.
21ಹೊಂಚಿ ಕೊಂಡ ಜನರು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದದ್ದನ್ನೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಹೊಗೆ ಏಳುವದನ್ನೂ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇ ಲ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನೋಡುವಾಗ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಆಯಿಯ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದುಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
