ಹೊಂಚಿ ಕೊಂಡ ಜನರು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದದ್ದನ್ನೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಹೊಗೆ ಏಳುವದನ್ನೂ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇ ಲ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನೋಡುವಾಗ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಆಯಿಯ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದುಬಿಟ್ಟರು.

19ಆಗ ಹೊಂಚಿಕೊಂಡಿ ದ್ದವರು ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಎದ್ದು ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಚಾಚುತ್ತಲೇ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ಅದನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ತ್ವರೆಯಾಗಿ ಬೆಂಕಿಯನ್ನು ಹಚ್ಚಿದರು.
20ಆಯಿಯ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರಿಗಿ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಇಗೋ, ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಹೊಗೆ ಹೊತ್ತಿ ಆಕಾಶಕ್ಕೆ ಏಳು ವದನ್ನು ಕಂಡರು; ಆಗ ಈ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾದರೂ ಆ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾದರೂ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಲು ಅವರಿಗೆ ತ್ರಾಣ ವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಹೋಯಿತು. ಆಗ ಅರಣ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿ ಹೋದ ಜನರು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿದವರ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿದರು.
21ಹೊಂಚಿ ಕೊಂಡ ಜನರು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದದ್ದನ್ನೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಹೊಗೆ ಏಳುವದನ್ನೂ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇ ಲ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ನೋಡುವಾಗ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಆಯಿಯ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದುಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
22ಅವರು ಪಟ್ಟಣ ದೊಳಗಿಂದ ಇವರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಬಂದ ಕಾರಣ ಅವರು ಈ ಕಡೆ ಆ ಕಡೆ ಇರುವ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದರು. ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗದ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಜೀವದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿಯದ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಅವರನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದರು.
23ಆಯಿಯ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ಜೀವಿತನಾಗಿ ಹಿಡಿದು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಂದರು.
