1. 7ಆಗ ಯೆಫ್ತಾಹನು ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಗೆಮಾಡಿ ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿದವರು ನೀವ ಲ್ಲವೋ? ಈಗ ನಿಮಗೆ ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟು ಬಂದಿರುವಾಗ ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಯಾಕೆ ಬಂದಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.
2. 8ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರು ಯೆಫ್ತಾಹನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅಮ್ಮೋನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳಾದ ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೆ ನೀನು ತಲೆಯಾಗಿರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಈಗ ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಿರಿಗಿ ಬಂದೆವು ಅಂದರು.

5. 11ಆಗ ಯೆಫ್ತಾ ಹನು ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೋದನು. ಆಗ ಜನರು ಅವನನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ನಾಯಕನ ನ್ನಾಗಿಯೂ ಅಧಿಪತಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿಯೂ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡರು. ಯೆಫ್ತಾಹನು ತನ್ನ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಿಚ್ಪೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ತನ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
