ಆಗ ಸಂಸೋನನೂ ಅವನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಯೂ ತಿಮ್ನಾಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ತಿಮ್ನಾದ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷೇ ತೋಟಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಇಗೋ, ಪ್ರಾಯದ ಸಿಂಹವು ಅವನ ಎದುರಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಗರ್ಜಿಸಿತು.

3ಆಗ ಅವನ ತಂದೆ ತಾಯಿಯೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನಿನಗೆ ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿ ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋ ದರರ ಕುಮಾರ್ತೆಯರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರ ಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಇಲ್ಲವೋ ಅಂದರು. ಆದರೆ ಸಂಸೋನನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗೆ--ಅವಳನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೋ; ಅವಳು ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿದ್ದಾಳೆ ಅಂದನು.
4ಇದು ಕರ್ತನಿಂದ ಉಂಟಾಯಿತೆಂದು ಅವನ ತಂದೆ ತಾಯಂದಿರು ಅರಿ ಯದೆ ಇದ್ದರು. ಏನಂದರೆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧ ವಾಗಿ ಅವನು ಕಾರಣವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿದನು. ಆ ಕಾಲ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಆಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
5ಆಗ ಸಂಸೋನನೂ ಅವನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಯೂ ತಿಮ್ನಾಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ತಿಮ್ನಾದ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷೇ ತೋಟಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಇಗೋ, ಪ್ರಾಯದ ಸಿಂಹವು ಅವನ ಎದುರಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಗರ್ಜಿಸಿತು.
6ಆಗ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಏನೂ ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೂ ಕರ್ತನ ಆತ್ಮವು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಂದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅದನ್ನು ಒಂದು ಮೇಕೆ ಮರಿಯ ಹಾಗೆ ಸೀಳಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ತಾನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.
7ಅವನು ಹೋಗಿ ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾ ಡಿದನು. ಅವಳು ಸಂಸೋನನ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪುವವಳಾ ಗಿದ್ದಳು.
