ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಅವನ ಮಾವನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಇರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಮೂರು ದಿನ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದನು. ಅವರು ತಿಂದು ಕುಡಿದು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.
Aa streeya tandeyaada avana maavanu avanannu irisikondaddarinda avanu mooru dina avana sangada iddanu. Avaru tindu kudidu alli ilukondiddaru.

- 2ಅವನು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಬೇತ್ಲೆ ಹೇಮಿನವಳಾದಂಥ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯನ್ನು ಉಪಪತ್ನಿಯಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನ ಉಪಪತ್ನಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಜಾರತ್ವಮಾಡಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಲ್ಕು ತಿಂಗಳಿದ್ದಳು.
- 3ಆಗ ಅವಳ ಗಂಡನು ಎದ್ದು ಅವಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಅವಳನ್ನು ತಿರಿಗಿ ಕರತರುವದಕ್ಕೆ ತನ್ನ ಊಳಿಗದವನನ್ನೂ ಎರಡು ಕತ್ತೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಅವಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು. ಅವಳು ಅವನನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಗೆ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದಳು. ಹೆಂಗಸಿನ ತಂದೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡ ದ್ದರಿಂದ ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟನು.
- 4ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಅವನ ಮಾವನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಇರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಮೂರು ದಿನ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದನು. ಅವರು ತಿಂದು ಕುಡಿದು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.
- 5ಆದರೆ ನಾಲ್ಕನೇ ದಿನ ಉದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಎದ್ದ ತರುವಾಯ ಅವನು ಹೋಗುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಎದ್ದಾಗ ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ತಂದೆ ತನ್ನ ಅಳಿಯನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಯಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಆದರಿಸಿಕೋ; ತರುವಾಯ ನೀವು ಹೋಗಬಹುದು ಅಂದನು.
- 6ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರು ಕುಳಿತು ಕೂಡಿ ತಿಂದು ಕುಡಿದರು. ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ತಂದೆ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ದಯಮಾಡಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಹೃದಯ ವನ್ನು ಸಂತೋಷಪಡಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಇರು ಅಂದನು.
