ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೇಸು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನಾನು ಸಹ ಒಂದು ವಿಷಯ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಅದನ್ನು ನೀವು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರೆ ನಾನು ಯಾವ ಅಧಿಕಾರದಿಂದ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇ ನೆಂದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಳುವೆನು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ--ಯೋಹಾನನ ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮವು ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಬಂತು?

- 24ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೇಸು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನಾನು ಸಹ ಒಂದು ವಿಷಯ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಅದನ್ನು ನೀವು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರೆ ನಾನು ಯಾವ ಅಧಿಕಾರದಿಂದ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇ ನೆಂದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಳುವೆನು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ--ಯೋಹಾನನ ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮವು ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಬಂತು?
- 25ಪರ ಲೋಕದಿಂದಲೋ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಂದಲೋ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮತಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ತರ್ಕಿ ಸುತ್ತಾ--ಪರಲೋಕದಿಂದ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರೆ ಆತನು ನಮಗೆ--ನೀವು ಅವನನ್ನು ಯಾಕೆ ನಂಬಲಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಾನು.
- 26ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಂದ ಎಂದು ನಾವು ಹೇಳಿ ದರೆ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಡುತ್ತೇವೆ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಯೋಹಾನನು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯೆಂದು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಎಣಿಸು ತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡರು.
