1. 36ಬೋಧಕ ನೇ, ನ್ಯಾಯ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಆಜ್ಞೆ ಯಾವದು ಎಂದು ಆತನನ್ನು ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಿದನು.
2. 37ಯೇಸು ಅವ ನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಪೂರ್ಣಹೃದಯದಿಂದಲೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಪೂರ್ಣಪ್ರಾಣ ದಿಂದಲೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಪೂರ್ಣ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಬೇಕು.
3. 38ಈ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯು ಮೊದಲನೆಯದೂ ದೊಡ್ಡದೂ ಆಗಿದೆ. ಅದರಂತೆ--
4. 39ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನಂತೆಯೇ ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಬೇಕೆಂಬದು ಎರಡನೆಯದು.
5. 40ನ್ಯಾಯ ಪ್ರಮಾಣವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಪ್ರವಾದನೆಗಳೂ ಈ ಎರಡು ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಧಾರಗೊಂಡಿವೆ ಅಂದನು.
