1. 16ಆದಕಾರಣ ನಾವು ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಕೂಗಿದೆವು; ಆತನು ನಮ್ಮ ಧ್ವನಿಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ದೂತನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಐಗುಪ್ತದೊಳಗಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ತಂದನು; ಇಗೋ, ನಾವು ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇರೆಯ ಕಡೇ ಊರಾದ ಕಾದೇಶಿನ ಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
2. 17ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ದಾಟಿ ಹೋಗ ಗೊಡಿಸು; ನಾವು ಹೊಲವನ್ನಾದರೂ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷೇತೋಟ ವನ್ನಾದರೂ ದಾಟಿಹೋಗುವದಿಲ್ಲ, ಬಾವಿಗಳ ನೀರನ್ನೂ ಕುಡಿಯುವದಿಲ್ಲ, ರಾಜ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇವೆ. ನಾವು ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇರೆಯನ್ನು ದಾಟುವ ವರೆಗೆ ಬಲಗಡೆಗಾದರೂ ಎಡಗಡೆಗಾದರೂ ತಿರುಗುವದಿಲ್ಲ.
3. 18ಎದೋಮ್ಯನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಟಿ ಹೋಗಬೇಡ; ಹೋದರೆ ನಾನು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ನಿನಗೆದುರಾಗಿ ಹೊರಡುವೆನು.
4. 19ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇ ನಂದರೆ--ನಾವು ರಾಜ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇವೆ; ನಾನಾಗಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಪಶುಗಳಾಗಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದರೆ ಅದರ ಕ್ರಯವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ನನ್ನ ಕಾಲ್ನಡೆಯಾಗಿ ದಾಟಿಹೋಗುವದೇ ಹೊರತು ಮತ್ತೇನು ಮಾಡು ವದಿಲ್ಲ.
5. 20ಆದರೆ ಅವನು--ನೀನು ದಾಟಬೇಡ ಅಂದನು. ಎದೋಮ್ಯನು ಬಹು ಜನರಿಂದಲೂ ಬಲವುಳ್ಳ ಕೈಯಿಂದಲೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟನು.
