ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇ ನಂದರೆ--ನಾವು ರಾಜ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇವೆ; ನಾನಾಗಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಪಶುಗಳಾಗಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದರೆ ಅದರ ಕ್ರಯವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ನನ್ನ ಕಾಲ್ನಡೆಯಾಗಿ ದಾಟಿಹೋಗುವದೇ ಹೊರತು ಮತ್ತೇನು ಮಾಡು ವದಿಲ್ಲ.

- 18ಎದೋಮ್ಯನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಟಿ ಹೋಗಬೇಡ; ಹೋದರೆ ನಾನು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ನಿನಗೆದುರಾಗಿ ಹೊರಡುವೆನು.
- 19ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇ ನಂದರೆ--ನಾವು ರಾಜ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇವೆ; ನಾನಾಗಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಪಶುಗಳಾಗಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿದರೆ ಅದರ ಕ್ರಯವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ನನ್ನ ಕಾಲ್ನಡೆಯಾಗಿ ದಾಟಿಹೋಗುವದೇ ಹೊರತು ಮತ್ತೇನು ಮಾಡು ವದಿಲ್ಲ.
- 20ಆದರೆ ಅವನು--ನೀನು ದಾಟಬೇಡ ಅಂದನು. ಎದೋಮ್ಯನು ಬಹು ಜನರಿಂದಲೂ ಬಲವುಳ್ಳ ಕೈಯಿಂದಲೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟನು.
- 21ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಎದೋಮ್ಯನು ಇಸ್ರಾ ಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಮೇರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಟಗೊಡಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಆದಕಾರಣ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಅವನ ಕಡೆಯಿಂದ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೊರಟುಹೋದರು.
