ಕತ್ತೆಯು ಬಿಳಾಮನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದು--ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನದಾ ದಂದಿನಿಂದ ಈ ದಿವಸದ ವರೆಗೂ ನೀನು ಹತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡ ನಿನ್ನ ಕತ್ತೆಯು ನಾನಲ್ಲವೋ? ನಾನು ಎಂದಾದರೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಮಾಡಿದೆನೋ ಅಂದಿತು. ಅದಕ್ಕ ವನು--ಇಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.
Katteyu bilaamanige heliddu--naanu ninnadaa dandininda ee divasada varegoo neenu hattikonda ninna katteyu naanallavo? Naanu endaadaroo ninage ee prakaara maadideno anditu. Adakka vanu--illa andanu.

- 29ಬಿಳಾಮನು ಕತ್ತೆಗೆ--ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಹಾಸ್ಯಮಾಡಿದಿಯಲ್ಲಾ? ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕತ್ತಿ ಇದ್ದರೆ ನಾನು ಈಗಲೇ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ ಅಂದನು.
- 30ಕತ್ತೆಯು ಬಿಳಾಮನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದು--ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನದಾ ದಂದಿನಿಂದ ಈ ದಿವಸದ ವರೆಗೂ ನೀನು ಹತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡ ನಿನ್ನ ಕತ್ತೆಯು ನಾನಲ್ಲವೋ? ನಾನು ಎಂದಾದರೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಮಾಡಿದೆನೋ ಅಂದಿತು. ಅದಕ್ಕ ವನು--ಇಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.
- 31ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು ಬಿಳಾಮನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರೆದನು; ಅವನು ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಕರ್ತನ ದೂತನನ್ನೂ ಆತನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಿಚ್ಚು ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿ ಬೋರಲು ಬಿದ್ದನು.
- 32ಕರ್ತನ ದೂತನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದು--ನಿನ್ನ ಕತ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ಈಗ ಮೂರು ಸಾರಿ ಹೊಡೆದದ್ದು ಯಾಕೆ? ಇಗೋ, ನಿನ್ನ ಮಾರ್ಗ ನನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ವಕ್ರವಾಗಿರುವದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಎದುರಾಳಿ ಯಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟೆನು.
