അപ്പം തിന്നുകയും വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്തശേഷം അവൻ താൻ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്ന പ്രവാചകന്നുവേണ്ടി കഴുതെക്കു കോപ്പിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു;

- 24അവൻ പോകുമ്പോൾ വഴിയിൽ ഒരു സിംഹം അവനെ കണ്ടു അവനെ കൊന്നു; അവന്റെ ശവം വഴിയിൽ കിടന്നു, കഴുത അതിന്റെ അരികെ നിന്നു; സിംഹവും ശവത്തിന്റെ അരികെ നിന്നു.
- 25വഴിപോകുന്ന ആളുകൾ ശവം വഴിയിൽ കിടക്കുന്നതും ശവത്തിന്റെ അരികെ സിംഹം നില്ക്കുന്നതും കണ്ടു; വൃദ്ധനായ പ്രവാചകൻ പാർക്കുന്ന പട്ടണത്തിൽ ചെന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.
