കൊള്ളാമെന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞാൽ അടിയന്നു ശുഭം; അല്ല, കോപിച്ചാൽ: അവൻ ദോഷം നിർണ്ണയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞുകൊള്ളേണം.

- 8എന്നാൽ അങ്ങുന്നു അടിയനോടു ദയ ചെയ്യേണം; അടിയനുമായി യഹോവയെ സാക്ഷിയാക്കി സഖ്യത ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ; വല്ല കുറ്റവും എന്നിൽ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിലോ അങ്ങുന്നു തന്നേ എന്നെ കൊല്ലുക; അപ്പന്റെ അടുക്കൽ എന്നെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുവാൻ എന്തൊരാവശ്യം?
- 9അതിന്നു യോനാഥാൻ: അങ്ങനെ നിനക്കു വരാതിരിക്കട്ടെ; എന്റെ അപ്പൻ നിനക്കു ദോഷം വരുത്തുവാൻ നിർണ്ണയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിഞ്ഞാൽ നിന്നെ അറിയിക്കാതിരിക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
