ദാവീദ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു: രാജാവേ, കുന്തം ഇതാ; ബാല്യക്കാരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ വന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോകട്ടെ.

- 23യഹോവ ഓരോരുത്തന്നു അവനവന്റെ നീതിക്കും വിശ്വസ്തതെക്കും ഒത്തവണ്ണം പകരം നല്കട്ടെ; യഹോവ ഇന്നു നിന്നെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചു; എങ്കിലും യഹോവയുടെ അഭിഷിക്തന്റെ മേൽ കൈവെപ്പാൻ എനിക്കു മനസ്സായില്ല.
- 24എന്നാൽ നിന്റെ ജീവൻ ഇന്നു എനിക്കു വിലയേറിയതായിരുന്നതുപോലെ എന്റെ ജീവൻ യഹോവെക്കു വിലയേറിയതായിരിക്കട്ടെ; അവൻ എന്നെ സകല കഷ്ടതയിൽനിന്നും രക്ഷിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.
