ഉസ്സീയാവിന്നു പടയാളികളുടെ ഒരു സൈന്യവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവർ രായസക്കാരനായ യെയീയേലും പ്രമാണിയായ മയശേയാവും എടുത്ത എണ്ണപ്രകാരം ഗണംഗണമായി രാജാവിന്റെ സേനാപതികളിൽ ഒരുവനായ ഹനന്യാവിന്റെ കൈക്കീഴെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പുറപ്പെടും.
