1. 10ഊരീയാവു വീട്ടിൽ പോയില്ല എന്നറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് ഊരീയാവിനോടു: നീ യാത്രയിൽനിന്നു വന്നവനല്ലയോ? നിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ പോകാതെ ഇരുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
2. 11ഊരീയാവു ദാവീദിനോടു: പെട്ടകവും യിസ്രായേലും യെഹൂദയും കൂടാരങ്ങളിൽ വസിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ യജമാനനായ യോവാബും യജമാനന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരും വെളിമ്പ്രദേശത്തു പാളയമിറങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്നു; അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ ഞാൻ ഭക്ഷിപ്പാനും കുടിപ്പാനും എന്റെ ഭാര്യയോടുകൂടെ ശയിപ്പാനും എന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ കടക്കുമോ? നിന്നാണ, നിന്റെ ജിവനാണ, അതു ഞാൻ ചെയ്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. 13പിറ്റെന്നാൾ ദാവീദ് അവനെ വിളിച്ചു; അവൻ അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഭക്ഷിച്ചു പാനം ചെയ്തു; അവൻ അവനെ ലഹരിപിടിപ്പിച്ചു; എങ്കിലും അവൻ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോകാതെ സന്ധ്യക്കു ചെന്നു യജമാനന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടുകൂടെ തന്റെ വിരിപ്പിൽ കിടന്നു.
