And when they had told David, saying, Uriah went not down unto his house, David said unto Uriah, Camest thou not from [thy] journey? why [then] didst thou not go down unto thine house?

1. 8പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് ഊരിയാവോടു: നീ വീട്ടിൽ ചെന്നു കാലുകളെ കഴുകുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഊരീയാവു രാജധാനിയിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ രാജാവിന്റെ സമ്മാനം അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു.
2. 9ഊരീയാവോ തന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ പോകാതെ യജമാനന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരോടുംകൂടെ രാജധാനിയുടെ വാതില്ക്കൽ കിടന്നുറങ്ങി.
3. 10ഊരീയാവു വീട്ടിൽ പോയില്ല എന്നറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് ഊരീയാവിനോടു: നീ യാത്രയിൽനിന്നു വന്നവനല്ലയോ? നിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ പോകാതെ ഇരുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
4. 11ഊരീയാവു ദാവീദിനോടു: പെട്ടകവും യിസ്രായേലും യെഹൂദയും കൂടാരങ്ങളിൽ വസിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ യജമാനനായ യോവാബും യജമാനന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരും വെളിമ്പ്രദേശത്തു പാളയമിറങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്നു; അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ ഞാൻ ഭക്ഷിപ്പാനും കുടിപ്പാനും എന്റെ ഭാര്യയോടുകൂടെ ശയിപ്പാനും എന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ കടക്കുമോ? നിന്നാണ, നിന്റെ ജിവനാണ, അതു ഞാൻ ചെയ്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
5. 12അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് ഊരീയാവിനോടു: നീ ഇന്നും ഇവിടെ താമസിക്ക; നാളെ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ഊരിയാവു അന്നും യെരൂശലേമിൽ താമസിച്ചു.
