യോവാബ് തന്നെ അറിയിച്ചവനോടു: നീ അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു അവിടെവെച്ചുതന്നേ വെട്ടിക്കളയാഞ്ഞതു എന്തു? ഞാൻ നിനക്കു പത്തുശേക്കെൽ വെള്ളിയും ഒരു അരക്കച്ചയും തരുമായിരുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Yovaab tanne ariyichchavanotu: nee avane kantittu avitevechchutanne vettikkalayaanynyatu entu? Nyaan ninakku pattushekkel velliyum oru arakkachchayum tarumaayirunnuvallo ennu paranynyu.

- 12അവൻ യോവാബിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: ആയിരം ശേക്കെൽ വെള്ളി എനിക്കു തന്നാലും ഞാൻ രാജകുമാരന്റെ നേരെ കൈ നീട്ടുകയില്ല; അബ്ശാലോംകുമാരനെ ആരും തൊടാതിരിപ്പാൻ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ എന്നു രാജാവു നിന്നോടും അബീശായിയോടും ഇത്ഥായിയോടും ഞങ്ങൾ കേൾക്കെയല്ലോ കല്പിച്ചതു.
- 13അല്ല, ഞാൻ അവന്റെ പ്രാണനെ ദ്രോഹിച്ചിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ - രാജാവിന്നു ഒന്നും മറവായിരിക്കയില്ലല്ലോ - നീ തന്നേ എന്നോടു അകന്നു നില്ക്കുമായിരുന്നു.
