എന്നാൽ രാജാവു തന്റെ മകനെക്കുറിച്ചു വ്യസനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ആ ദിവസം ജനം കേട്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അന്നത്തേ ജയം ജനത്തിന്നൊക്കെയും ദുഃഖമായ്തീർന്നു.

1രാജാവു അബ്ശാലോമിനെച്ചൊല്ലി ദുഃഖിച്ചുകരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യോവാബ് കേട്ടു.
2എന്നാൽ രാജാവു തന്റെ മകനെക്കുറിച്ചു വ്യസനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ആ ദിവസം ജനം കേട്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അന്നത്തേ ജയം ജനത്തിന്നൊക്കെയും ദുഃഖമായ്തീർന്നു.
3ആകയാൽ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ തോറ്റിട്ടു നാണിച്ചു ഒളിച്ചുവരുംപോലെ ജനം അന്നു പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു ഒളിച്ചുകടന്നു.
4രാജാവു മുഖം മൂടി: എന്റെ മകനേ, അബ്ശാലോമേ, അബ്ശാലോമേ, എന്റെ മകനേ! എന്നു ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
