ഏഴാം മാസം ഒന്നാം തിയ്യതിമുതൽ അവർ യഹോവെക്കു ഹോമയാഗം കഴിപ്പാൻ തുടങ്ങി; എന്നാൽ യഹോവയുടെ മന്ദിരത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനം അതുവരെ ഇട്ടിരുന്നില്ല.

- 7അവർ കല്പണിക്കാർക്കും ആശാരികൾക്കും ദ്രവ്യമായിട്ടും പാർസിരാജാവായ കോരെശിന്റെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം ലെബാനോനിൽനിന്നു ദേവദാരു കടൽവഴി യാഫോവിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവരേണ്ടതിന്നു സീദോന്യർക്കും സോര്യർക്കും ഭക്ഷണവും പാനീയവും എണ്ണയും ആയിട്ടും കൂലി കൊടുത്തു.
- 8അവർ യെരൂശലേമിലെ ദൈവാലയത്തിങ്കൽ എത്തിയതിന്റെ രണ്ടാമാണ്ടു രണ്ടാം മാസം ശെയൽതീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെരുബ്ബാബേലും യോസാദാക്കിന്റെ മകനായ യേശുവയും അവരുടെ ശേഷംസഹോദരന്മാരും പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ലേവ്യരും പ്രവാസത്തിൽനിന്നു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു വന്നവർ എല്ലാവരും കൂടി പണി തുടങ്ങി; ഇരുപതു വയസ്സുമുതൽ മേലോട്ടു പ്രായമുള്ള ലേവ്യരെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ പണിനടത്തുവാൻ നിയമിച്ചു.
