గోధుమలు తెచ్చెదమని వేషము వేసికొని వారు ఇంటిలో చొచ్చి, ఇష్బోషెతు పడకటింట మంచము మీద పరుండియుండగా అతనిని కడుపులో పొడిచి తప్పించుకొనిపోయిరి.

- 4సౌలు కుమారుడగు యోనాతానునకు కుంటివాడగు కుమారుడు ఒకడుండెను. యెజ్రెయేలునుండి సౌలును గురించియు యోనాతానును గురించియు వర్తమానమువచ్చి నప్పుడు వాడు అయిదేండ్లవాడు; వాని దాది వానిని ఎత్తికొని పరుగు పరుగున పారిపోగా వాడు పడి కుంటివాడాయెను. వాని పేరు మెఫీబోషెతు.
- 5రిమ్మోను కుమారులగు రేకాబును బయనాయును మంచి యెండవేళ బయలుదేరి మధ్యాహ్నకాలమున ఇష్బోషెతు మంచముమీద పండుకొనియుండగా అతని యింటికి వచ్చిరి.
- 6గోధుమలు తెచ్చెదమని వేషము వేసికొని వారు ఇంటిలో చొచ్చి, ఇష్బోషెతు పడకటింట మంచము మీద పరుండియుండగా అతనిని కడుపులో పొడిచి తప్పించుకొనిపోయిరి.
- 7వారతని పొడిచి చంపి అతని తలను ఛేదించి దానిని తీసికొని రాత్రి అంతయు మైదాన ములో బడి ప్రయాణమైపోయి హెబ్రోనులోనున్న దావీదునొద్దకు ఇష్బోషెతు తలను తీసికొనివచ్చిచిత్త గించుము;
- 8నీ ప్రాణము తీయచూచిన సౌలుకుమారుడైన ఇష్బోషెతు తలను మేము తెచ్చియున్నాము; ఈ దినమున యెహోవా మా యేలినవాడవును రాజవునగు నీ పక్షమున సౌలుకును అతని సంతతికిని ప్రతికారము చేసి యున్నాడని చెప్పగా
