2. 14రాజు ఈ మాట విని బహుగా వ్యాకులపడి, దానియేలును రక్షింపవలెనని తన మనస్సు దృఢముచేసికొని, సూర్యుడస్తమించువరకు అతని విడిపించుటకు ప్రయత్నము చేసెను.
3. 15ఆ మనుష్యులు దీని చూచి రాజసన్నిధికి సందడిగా కూడి వచ్చిరాజా, రాజు స్థిరపరచిన యే శాసనము గాని తీర్మానము గాని యెవడును రద్దుపరచజాలడు; ఇది మాదీయులకును పారసీకులకును విధియని తమరు తెలిసి కొనవలెననిరి.
4. 16అంతట రాజు ఆజ్ఞ ఇయ్యగా బంట్రౌతులు దానియేలును పట్టుకొనిపోయి సింహముల గుహలో పడద్రోసిరి; పడద్రోయగా రాజునీవు అనుదినము తప్పక సేవించుచున్న నీ దేవుడే నిన్ను రక్షించునని దానియేలుతో చెప్పెను.
5. 17వారు ఒక రాయి తీసికొని వచ్చి ఆ గుహ ద్వారమున వేసి దాని మూసిరి; మరియు దానియేలును గూర్చి రాజుయొక్క తీర్మానము మారునేమోయని, రాజు ముద్రను అతని యధికారుల ముద్రను వేసి దాని ముద్రించిరి.
