Now because we have maintenance from [the king’s] palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king’s dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king;

1. 12తమ సన్నిధినుండి మాయొద్దకు వచ్చిన యూదులు యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చి, తిరుగుబాటుచేసిన ఆ చెడుపట్టణమును కట్టుచున్నారు. వారు దాని ప్రాకారములను నిలిపి దాని పునాదులను మరమ్మతు చేయు చున్నారు.
2. 13కావున రాజవైన తమకు తెలియవలసినదేమనగా, ఈ పట్టణమును కట్టి దాని ప్రాకారములను నిలువ బెట్టినయెడల వారు శిస్తుగాని సుంకముగాని పన్నుగాని యియ్యకయుందురు, అప్పుడు రాజునకు రావలసిన పైకము నష్టమగును.
3. 14మేము రాజుయొక్క ఉప్పుతిన్నవారము గనుక రాజునకు నష్టమురాకుండ మేము చూడవలెనని ఈ యుత్తరమును పంపి రాజవైన తమకు ఈ సంగతి తెలియ జేసితివిు.
4. 15మరియు తమ పూర్వికులు వ్రాయించిన రాజ్యపు దస్తావేజులను చూచినయెడల, ఈ పట్టణపువారు తిరుగుబాటు చేయువారుగాను, రాజులకును దేశములకును హాని చేయువారుగాను, కలహకారులుగాను కనబడుదు రనియు, అందువలననే యీ పట్టణము నాశనము పొందె ననియు రాజ్యపు దస్తావేజులవలననే తమకు తెలియ వచ్చును.
5. 16కావున రాజవైన తమకు మేము రూఢిపరచున దేమనగా, ఈ పట్టణము కట్టబడి దాని ప్రాకారములు నిలువబెట్టబడినయెడల నది యివతల తమకు హక్కు ఎంత మాత్రము ఉండదు.
