And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she [is] thy wife: and how saidst thou, She [is] my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.

2. 8అక్కడ అతడు చాలా దినములుండిన తరువాత ఫిలిష్తీయుల రాజైన అబీమెలెకు కిటికీలో నుండి చూచినప్పుడు ఇస్సాకు తన భార్యయైన రిబ్కాతో సరసమాడుట కనబడెను.
3. 9అప్పుడు అబీమెలెకు ఇస్సాకును పిలిపించి ఇదిగో ఆమె నీ భార్యయే ఆమె నా సహోదరి అని యేల చెప్పితివని అడుగగా ఇస్సాకు ఆమెను బట్టి నేను చనిపోవుదు నేమో అనుకొంటినని అతనితో చెప్పెను.
4. 10అందుకు అబీమెలెకు నీవు మాకు చేసిన యీ పని యేమి? ఈ జనులలో ఎవడైన ఆమెతో నిర్భయముగా శయనించవచ్చునే. అప్పుడు నీవు మామీదికి పాతకము తెచ్చిపెట్టు వాడవుగదా అనెను.
5. 11అబీమెలెకు ఈ మనుష్యుని జోలికైనను ఇతని భార్య జోలికైనను వెళ్లు వాడు నిశ్చయముగా మరణశిక్ష పొందునని తన ప్రజల కందరికి ఆజ్ఞాపింపగా
