1. 48అబీమెలెకును అతనితో నున్న జనులందరును సల్మోను కొండనెక్కి అబీమెలెకు గొడ్డలిని చేత పట్టుకొని చెట్లనుండి పెద్ద కొమ్మను నరికి యెత్తి భుజముమీద పెట్టుకొనినేను దేనిచేయుట మీరు చూచితిరో మీరును నేను చేసినట్టుగా దానిని త్వరగా చేయుడని తనతోనున్న జనులతో చెప్పెను.
2. 49అప్పుడు ఆ జనులందరిలో ప్రతివాడును ఒక్కొక కొమ్మను నరికి అబీమెలెకును వెంబడించి ఆ కోట దగ్గర వాటిని పెట్టి వాటివలన ఆ కోటను అగ్నిచేత కాల్చిరి. అప్పుడు షెకెము గోపుర యజమానులు, అనగా స్త్రీ పురుషులు ఇంచుమించు వెయ్యిమంది చచ్చిరి.
3. 50తరువాత అబీమెలెకు తేబేసుకు పోయి తేబేసునొద్ద దిగి దాని పట్టుకొనెను.
4. 51ఆ పట్టణమునడుమ ఒక బల మైన గోపురముండగా స్త్రీ పురుషులును పట్టణపు యజ మానులును అక్కడికి పారిపోయి తలుపులు వేసికొని గోపుర శిఖరము మీదికెక్కిరి.
5. 52అబీమెలెకు ఆ గోపురము నొద్దకు వచ్చి దానిమీద పడి యుద్ధము చేసి అగ్నిచేత దాని కాల్చుటకు గోపురద్వారమునొద్దకు రాగా
