ఆయన ఒడ్డున దిగినప్పుడు ఆ ఊరివాడొకడు ఆయనకు ఎదురుగావచ్చెను. వాడు దయ్యములుపట్టినవాడై, బహుకాలమునుండి బట్టలు కట్టు కొనక, సమాధులలోనేగాని యింటిలో ఉండువాడు కాడు.

King James Version (KJV): And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in [any] house, but in the tombs.

28వాడు యేసును చూచి, కేకలువేసి ఆయన యెదుట సాగిలపడియేసూ, సర్వోన్నతుడైన దేవుని కుమారుడా, నాతో నీకేమి? నన్ను బాధపరచకుమని నిన్ను వేడుకొనుచున్నాను అని కేకలువేసి చెప్పెను.
29ఏలయనగా ఆయనఆ మనుష్యుని విడిచి వెలుపలికి రమ్మని ఆ అపవిత్రాత్మకు ఆజ్ఞాపించెను. అది అనేక పర్యాయములు వానిని పట్టుచువచ్చెను గనుక వానిని గొలుసులతోను కాలిసంకెళ్లతోను కట్టి కావలియందుంచిరి గాని, వాడు బంధకములను తెంపగా దయ్యము వానిని అడవిలోనికి తరుముకొని పోయెను.
