King James Version (KJV): And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

3ఆ శోధకుడు ఆయనయొద్దకు వచ్చినీవు దేవుని కుమారుడవైతే ఈ రాళ్లు రొట్టెలగునట్లు ఆజ్ఞాపించు మనెను
4అందుకాయన మనుష్యుడు రొట్టెవలన మాత్రము కాదుగాని దేవుని నోటనుండి వచ్చు ప్రతిమాటవలనను జీవించును అని వ్రాయబడియున్నదనెను.
5అంతట అపవాది పరిశుద్ధ పట్టణమునకు ఆయనను తీసికొనిపోయి, దేవాలయ శిఖరమున ఆయనను నిలువబెట్టి
