2. 7కాబట్టి యేమందుము? ధర్మశాస్త్రము పాపమాయెనా? అట్లనరాదు. ధర్మశాస్త్రమువలననే గాని పాపమనగా ఎట్టిదో నాకు తెలియకపోవును. ఆశింపవద్దని ధర్మ శాస్త్రము చెప్పనియెడల దురాశయన ఎట్టిదో నాకు తెలియకపోవును.
3. 8అయితే పాపము ఆజ్ఞనుహేతువు చేసికొని సకలవిధమైన దురాశలను నాయందు పుట్టించెను. ధర్మశాస్త్రము లేనప్పుడు పాపము మృతము.
4. 9ఒకప్పుడు నేను ధర్మశాస్త్రము లేకుండ జీవించుచుంటిని గాని, ఆజ్ఞ వచ్చినప్పుడు పాపమునకు మరల జీవము వచ్చెను; నేనైతే చనిపోతిని.
5. 10అప్పుడు జీవార్థమైన ఆజ్ఞ నాకు మరణార్థమైనట్టు కనబడెను.
