அவன் என்னிடம், ‘எனது குடும்பத்தினர் பட்டணத்திலே பலிசெலுத்தப் போகிறார்கள். என்னுடைய சகோதரன் என்னை அங்கே வரும்படி கட்டளையிட்டிருக்கிறார். உம்முடைய கண்களிலே எனக்குத் தயவு கிடைக்குமானால் நான் போய் என் சகோதரரைப் பார்ப்பதற்கு எனக்கு விடை தாரும்’ என்று கேட்டான். அதனால்தான் அவன் அரச பந்திக்கு வரவில்லை” என்றான்.

And he said, Let me go, I pray thee; for our family hath a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he hath commanded me [to be there:] and now, if I have found favour in thine eyes, let me get away, I pray thee, and see my brethren. Therefore he cometh not unto the king’s table.

4. 30அப்பொழுது சவுல் யோனத்தான் மேல் கோபமூண்டவனாகி, அவனைப் பார்த்து: இரண்டகமும் மாறுபாடுமுள்ளவளின் மகனே, நீ உனக்கு வெட்கமாகவும், உன் தாயின் மானத்திற்கு வெட்கமாகவும், ஈசாயின் மகனைத் தோழனாகத் தெரிந்துகொண்டிருக்கிறதை நான் அறியேனோ?
5. 31ஈசாயின் மகன் பூமியின்மேல் உயிரோடிருக்கும் நாள்வரையும் நீயானாலும் உன் ராஜ்யபாரமானாலும் நிலைப்படுவதில்லை; இப்போதே அவனை அழைப்பித்து, என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவா. அவன் சாகவேண்டும் என்றான்.
