அப்போது, ஆசாரியர்கள் எருசலேமிற்கு பலிகளைக் கொண்டு வந்து ஆலயத்திற்குள் பலியிடவில்லை. ஆசாரியர்கள் யூத நாடு முழுவதிலும் வாழ்ந்தனர். ஆனால் பொய்த் தெய்வங்களுக்கு நறு மணப் பொருட்களை எரித்து பலியிட்டு வழிபாடு செய்துவந்தனர். இப்பொய் தெய்வங்களுக்கான மேடைகள் கேபா முதல் பெயெர்செபா மட்டும் நிறைந்திருந்தன. ஆசாரியர்கள் சாதாரண ஜனங்களோடு புளிப்பில்லாத அப்பங்களை உண்டு வந்தனர். [எருசலேமின் ஆலயத்தில் ஆசாரியர்களுக்கென இருந்த சிறப்பு இடத்தில்] அவர்கள் உண்ணவில்லை. ஆனால் அரசன் (யோசியா) அப்பொய்த் தெய்வங்களின் மேடைகளை அழித்து, அந்த ஆசாரியர்களை எருசலேமிற்கு அழைத்து வந்தான். இல்க்கியாவும் பட்டணத்து வாசலுக்குப் போகும் வழியின் இடது புறமிருந்த யோசுவாவினால் கட்டப்பட்ட மேடையை அழித்தான்.
