ஆனாலும் ஆசகேலோ துரத்துவதை நிறுத்த மறுத்துவிட்டதால், உடனே அப்னேர் திரும்பி தன் ஈட்டியின் பின்பகுதியினால் ஆசகேலின் வயிற்றில் குத்தினான். ஈட்டி அவன் உடலில் ஊடுருவி முதுகு வழியே வந்தது. அவன் அவ்விடத்திலேயே விழுந்து இறந்தான். அவனுக்குப் பின்னால் வந்த ஒவ்வொருவரும் ஆசகேல் இறந்து கிடந்த இடத்திற்கு வந்தபோது அங்கேயே தரித்து நின்றுவிட்டார்கள்.

ஆனால் ஆசகேலோ அப்னேரை விடாமல் துரத்தினான். எனவே அப்னேர் ஈட்டியின் மறுமுனையால் ஆசகேலின் வயிற்றில் குத்தினான். ஈட்டி ஆசகேலின் வயிற்றினுள் புகுந்து முதுகில் வெளி வந்தது. ஆசகேல் அங்கேயே விழுந்து மரித்தான். ஆசகேலின் உடல் நிலத்தில் கிடந்தது. ஓடிவந்த மனிதர்கள் அவனருகே நின்றுவிட்டனர்.

Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him under the fifth [rib], that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, [that] as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.

4. 24யோவாபும் அபிசாயும் சூரியன் அஸ்தமிக்குமட்டும் அப்னேரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தார்கள்; கிபியோன் வனாந்தர வழிக்கு அருகான கீயாவுக்கு எதிரே இருக்கிற அம்மா மேடுமட்டும் வந்தார்கள்.
5. 25அப்பொழுது அப்னேரைப் பின் சென்ற பென்யமீன் புத்திரர் ஒரே படையாகக்கூடி, ஒரு மலையின் உச்சியிலே நின்றார்கள்.
