இப்படிச் செய்தவன் யார் என்று பெலிஸ்தர்கள் கேட்கிறபோது, திம்னாத்தானுடைய மருமகனான சிம்சோன்தான்; அவனுடைய மனைவியை அவனுடைய நண்பனுக்குத் திருமணம் செய்துகொடுத்ததினால் அப்படிச் செய்தான் என்றார்கள்; அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தர்கள் போய், அவளையும் அவள் தகப்பனையும் அக்கினியால் சுட்டெரித்தார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தியர், “யார் இதைச் செய்தார்கள்?” என்று கேட்டபோது, “இதைத் திம்னாத்தினுடைய மருமகனாகிய சிம்சோன் செய்திருக்கிறான். ஏனெனில் அவனுடைய மனைவி அவனுடைய சிநேகிதனுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருந்தாள்” என்றார்கள். எனவே பெலிஸ்தியர் சென்று அவளையும் அவள் குடும்பத்தையும் எரித்துக்கொன்றார்கள்.
