1दाऊद तो बूढ़ा वरन बहुत बूढा हो गया था, इसलिये उस ने अपने पुत्रा सुलैमान को इसगाएल पर राजा नियुक्त कर दिया।
2तब उस ने इस्राएल के सब हाकिमों और याजकों और लेमियों को इकट्ठा किया।
3और जितने लेवीय तीस वर्ष के और उस से अधिक अवस्था के थे, वे गिने एए, और एक एक पुरूष के गिनने से उनकी गिनती अड़तीस हजार हुई।
4इन में से चौबीस हजार तो यहोवा के भवन का काम चलाने के लिये नियुक्त हुए, और छे हजार सरदार और न्यायी।
5और चार हजार द्वारपाल नियुक्त हुए, और चार हजार उन बाजों से यहोवा की स्तुति करने के लिये ठहराए गए जो दाऊद ने स्तुति करने के लिये बनाए थे।
