तब दाऊद ने उस से पूछा, तू किस का जन है? और कहां का है? उस ने कहा, मैं तो मिद्दी जवान और एक अमालेकी मनुष्य का दास हूँ; और तीन दिन हुए कि मैं बीमार पड़ा, और मेरा स्वामी मुझे छोड़ गया।
Tab daaood ne us se poochhaa, too kis kaa jan hai? Aur kahaam kaa hai? Us ne kahaa, maim to middee javaan aur ek amaalekee manushy kaa daas hoon; aur teen din hue ki maim beemaar padaa, aur meraa svaamee mujhe chhod gayaa.

- 14हम लोगों ने करेतियों की दक्खिन दिशा में, और यहूदा के देश में, और कालेब की दक्खिन दिशा में चढाई की; और सिकलग को आग लगाकर फूंक दिया था।
- 15दाऊद ने उस से पूछा, क्या तू मुझे उस दल के पास पहुंचा देगा? उस ने कहा, मुझ से परमेश्वर की यह शपथ खा, कि मैं तुझे न तो प्राण से मारूंगा, और न तेरे स्वामी के हाथ कर दूंगा, तब मैं तुझे उस दल के पास पहुंचा दूंगा।
