तब दाऊद के भाई शिमा के पुत्रा यानादाब ने कहा, मेरा प्रभु यह न समझे कि सब जवान, अर्थात् राजकुमार मार डाले गए हैं, केवल अम्नोन मारा गया है; क्योंकि जिस दिन उस ने अबशालोम की बहिन तामार को भ्रष्ट किया, उसी दिन से अबशालोम की आज्ञा से ऐसी ही बात ठनी थी।
Tab daaood ke bhaaee shimaa ke putraa yaanaadaab ne kahaa, meraa prabhu yah na samajhe ki sab javaan, arthaat raajakumaar maar daale gae haim, keval amnon maaraa gayaa hai; kyonki jis din us ne abashaalom kee bahin taamaar ko bhrasht kiyaa, usee din se abashaalom kee aajnyaa se aisee hee baat thanee thee.

- 34इतने में अबशालोम भाग गया। और जो जवान पहरा देता थ उस ने आंखें उठाकर देखा, कि पीछे की ओर से पहाड़ के पास के मार्ग से बहुत लोग चले आ रहे हैं।
