योआब ने बतानेवाले से कहा, तू ने यह देखा! फिर क्यों उसे वहीं मारके भूमि पर न गिरा दिया? तो मैं तुझे दस तुकड़े चांदी और एक कटिबन्द देता।
Yoaab ne bataanevaale se kahaa, too ne yah dekhaa! Phir kyom use vaheem maarake bhoomi par na giraa diyaa? To maim tujhe das tukade chaandee aur ek katiband detaa.

- 9संयोग से अबशालोम और दाऊद के जनों की भेंट हो गई। अबशालोम तो एक खच्चर पर चढ़ा हुआ जा रहा था, कि ख्च्चर एक बड़े बांज वृक्ष की घनी डालियों के नीचे से गया, और उसका सिर उस बांज वृक्ष में अटक गया, और वह अधर में लटका रह गया, और उसका ख्च्चर निकल गया।

- 12उस मनुष्य ने योआब से कहा, चाहे मेरे हाथ में हज़ार टुकड़े चांदी तौलकर दिए जाऐ, तौभी राजकुमार के विरूद्ध हाथ न बढ़ाऊंगा; क्योंकि हम लोगों के सुनते राजा ने तुझे और अबीशै और इत्तै को यह आज्ञा दी, कि तुम में से कोई क्यों न हो उस जवान अर्थात् अबशालोम को न छूए।
- 13यदि मैं धोखा देकर उसका प्राण लेता, तो तू आप मेरा विरोधी हो जाता, क्योंकि राजा से कोई बात छिपी नहीं रहती।
