उस मनुष्य ने योआब से कहा, चाहे मेरे हाथ में हज़ार टुकड़े चांदी तौलकर दिए जाऐ, तौभी राजकुमार के विरूद्ध हाथ न बढ़ाऊंगा; क्योंकि हम लोगों के सुनते राजा ने तुझे और अबीशै और इत्तै को यह आज्ञा दी, कि तुम में से कोई क्यों न हो उस जवान अर्थात् अबशालोम को न छूए।

Us manushy ne yoaab se kahaa, chaahe mere haath mem hajaar tukade chaandee taulakar die jaaai, taubhee raajakumaar ke virooddh haath na badhaaoongaa; kyonki ham logom ke sunate raajaa ne tujhe aur abeeshai aur ittai ko yah aajnyaa dee, ki tum mem se koee kyom na ho us javaan arthaat abashaalom ko na chhooe.

King James Version (KJV): And the man said unto Joab, Though I should receive a thousand [shekels] of silver in mine hand, [yet] would I not put forth mine hand against the king’s son: for in our hearing the king charged thee and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Beware that none [touch] the young man Absalom.

11योआब ने बतानेवाले से कहा, तू ने यह देखा! फिर क्यों उसे वहीं मारके भूमि पर न गिरा दिया? तो मैं तुझे दस तुकड़े चांदी और एक कटिबन्द देता।
12उस मनुष्य ने योआब से कहा, चाहे मेरे हाथ में हज़ार टुकड़े चांदी तौलकर दिए जाऐ, तौभी राजकुमार के विरूद्ध हाथ न बढ़ाऊंगा; क्योंकि हम लोगों के सुनते राजा ने तुझे और अबीशै और इत्तै को यह आज्ञा दी, कि तुम में से कोई क्यों न हो उस जवान अर्थात् अबशालोम को न छूए।
13यदि मैं धोखा देकर उसका प्राण लेता, तो तू आप मेरा विरोधी हो जाता, क्योंकि राजा से कोई बात छिपी नहीं रहती।
14योआब ने कहा, मैं तेरे संग योंही ठहरा नहीं रह सकता! सो उस ने तीन लकड़ी हाथ में लेकर अबशालोम के हृदय में, जो बांज वृक्ष में जीवति लटका था, छेद डाला।
