3. 18ಆಗ ಆ ಮೂವರು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ದಂಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನುಗ್ಗಿಹೋಗಿ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನ ಬಾಗಲ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಾವಿಯ ನೀರನ್ನು ಸೇದಿ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದರು.
4. 19ಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಅದನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯಲೊಲ್ಲದೆ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಹೊಯ್ದು--ನನ್ನ ದೇವರು ಇಂಥಾ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ದೂರವಾಗ ಮಾಡಲಿ; ನಾನು ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಪ್ರಾಣ ರಕ್ತವನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯಬಹುದೇ? ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಗಳಿಂದ ಅದನ್ನು ತಂದರಲ್ಲಾ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕುಡಿಯ ಲೊಲ್ಲದೆ ಇದ್ದನು. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರಾದ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳು ಮಾಡಿದರು.
5. 20ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೋವಾಬನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಅಬ್ಷೈಯು ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥನಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ಮುನ್ನೂರು ಮಂದಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಈಟಿಯನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಮೂವರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಸರುಗೊಂಡವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
