ಆಗ ಇಗೋ, ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಹಾದು ಹೋಗಿ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದಿರುವ ಹೆಣವನ್ನೂ ಹೆಣದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿರುವ ಸಿಂಹವನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿ ವೃದ್ಧ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯು ವಾಸವಾಗಿರುವ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು;

Aaga igo, manushyaru haadu hogi maargadalli biddiruva henavannoo henada baliyalli nintiruva sinhavannoo nodi vruddha pravaadiyu vaasavaagiruva pattanakke bandu tilisidaru;

King James Version (KJV): And, behold, men passed by, and saw the carcase cast in the way, and the lion standing by the carcase: and they came and told [it] in the city where the old prophet dwelt.

24ಅವನು ಹೋದ ತರುವಾಯ ಸಿಂಹವು ಅವನನ್ನು ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಡಿದು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿತು. ಅವನ ಹೆಣ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕ ಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು; ಕತ್ತೆಯೂ ಸಿಂಹವೂ ಹೆಣದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದವು.
25ಆಗ ಇಗೋ, ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಹಾದು ಹೋಗಿ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದಿರುವ ಹೆಣವನ್ನೂ ಹೆಣದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿರುವ ಸಿಂಹವನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿ ವೃದ್ಧ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯು ವಾಸವಾಗಿರುವ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು;
26ಅವನನ್ನು ಮಾರ್ಗದಿಂದ ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಕರತಂದ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯು ಆ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ--ಇವನೇ ಕರ್ತನ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಅವಿಧೇಯನಾದ ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು; ಕರ್ತನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತಿನ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಕರ್ತನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಿಂಹಕ್ಕೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ದ್ದಾನೆ; ಅದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸೀಳಿ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿತು ಅಂದನು.
27ತನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ--ಕತ್ತೆಗೆ ತಡಿಹಾಕಿರಿ ಅಂದನು. ಅವರು ತಡಿ ಹಾಕಿದರು.
