1. 4ಕರ್ತನು ಹೇಳಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಮಾಡಿ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದನು. ಆಗ ಊರಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರು ಅವನ ಬರುವಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ನಡುಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಸಮಾಧಾನವೋ ಅಂದರು.
2. 5ಅದಕ್ಕವನು--ಸಮಾಧಾನವೇ; ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಬಲಿಯನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸ ಬಂದೆನು. ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಶುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಯಜ್ಞಅರ್ಪಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ ಅಂದನು. ಇಷಯನನ್ನು ಅವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಶುದ್ಧಿಮಾಡಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಯಜ್ಞ ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದನು.
3. 6ಅವರು ಬಂದಾಗ ಏನಾಯಿತಂದರೆ, ಅವನು ಎಲೀಯಾಬನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ--ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ಕರ್ತನ ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತನು ಆತನ ಮುಂದೆ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡನು.
4. 7ಆದರೆ ಕರ್ತನು ಸಮುವೇಲನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಅವನ ರೂಪವನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ದೇಹದ ಉದ್ದವನ್ನೂ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಸಬೇಡ; ಅವನನ್ನು ನಾನು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಿದೆನು; ಕರ್ತನು ಮನುಷ್ಯರಂತೆ ಹೊರಗಿನ ತೋರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ನೋಡದೆ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನೇ ನೋಡುವನು ಅಂದನು.
5. 8ಆಗ ಇಷಯನು ಅಬೀನಾ ದಾಬನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಮುವೇಲನ ಮುಂದೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದನು; ಆದರೆ ಅವನು--ಇವನನ್ನು ಕರ್ತನು ಆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.
