ದಾವೀದನು ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ--ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮೇಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವಾಗ ಸಿಂಹವೂ ಕರಡಿಯೂ ಬಂದು ಮಂದೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಕುರಿಮರಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದವು.
Daaveedanu saulanige--ninna sevakanu tanna tandeya kurigalannu meyisikondiruvaaga sinhavoo karadiyoo bandu mandeyalli iruva kurimariyannu hididavu.

- 33ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ದಾವೀದ ನಿಗೆ--ಈ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಲು ನಿನ್ನಿಂದಾಗದು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನೀನು ಹುಡುಗನಾಗಿದ್ದೀ; ಅವನು ಚಿಕ್ಕಂದಿನಿಂದ ಯುದ್ಧದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಅಂದನು.
- 34ದಾವೀದನು ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ--ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮೇಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವಾಗ ಸಿಂಹವೂ ಕರಡಿಯೂ ಬಂದು ಮಂದೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಕುರಿಮರಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದವು.
- 35ಆಗ ನಾನು ಅದರ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದು ಆ ಕುರಿಮರಿಯನ್ನು ಅದರ ಬಾಯಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿದೆನು. ಅದು ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಬಿದ್ದಾಗ ನಾನು ಅದರ ಗಡ್ಡವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಹೊಡೆದು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದೆನು.
- 36ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ಆ ಸಿಂಹವನ್ನೂ ಆ ಕರಡಿಯನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದು ಬಿಟ್ಟನು. ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಈ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ಜೀವವುಳ್ಳ ದೇವರ ಸೈನ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಭಟಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದರ ಹಾಗೆ ಆಗುವನು ಅಂದನು.
