ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ದಾವೀದನೂ ತನ್ನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರೂ ಕೆಯಾಲಾಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಅವರ ದನಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದನು. ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ದಾವೀದನು ಕೆಯಾಲಾದ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದನು.

3ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಅವನಿಗೆಇಗೋ, ನಾವು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದದಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗಲೇ ಭಯಪಡುತ್ತೇವೆ; ಆದರೆ ನಾವು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಸೈನ್ಯ ಗಳಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಕೆಯಾಲಾಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದರೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ಅಧಿಕವಾದ ಭಯವಾಗುವದು ಅಂದರು.
4ದಾವೀ ದನು ತಿರಿಗಿ ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕರ್ತನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ--ನೀನೆದ್ದು ಕೆಯಾಲಾಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗು; ನಾನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡು ವೆನು ಅಂದನು.
5ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ದಾವೀದನೂ ತನ್ನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರೂ ಕೆಯಾಲಾಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಅವರ ದನಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದನು. ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ದಾವೀದನು ಕೆಯಾಲಾದ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದನು.
6ಆದರೆ ಅಹೀಮೆಲೆಕನ ಮಗನಾದ ಎಬ್ಯಾತಾರನು ಕೆಯಾಲಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ದಾವೀದನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಬಂದಾಗ ಅವನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಫೋದು ಇತ್ತು.
7ದಾವೀದನು ಕೆಯಾಲಾಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾನೆಂದು ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಾಗ ಸೌಲನು--ದೇವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟನು, ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವನು ಬಾಗಲುಗಳೂ ಅಗುಳಿಗಳೂ ಇರುವ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಒಳಗೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಮುಚ್ಚಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿ ದ್ದಾನೆ ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡನು.
